Rolec & Adlington Retirement Living Provide Over 200 EV Chargers for Homeowners in the UK

Leaders in residential and commercial EV charging, Rolec, have entered an exclusive partnership with Adlington Retirement Living. The scale of the partnership will provide electric vehicle charging infrastructure for Adlington’s future retirement living communities with over 200 chargers across the UK. The collaboration will enable Adlington Retirement Living homeowners to access affordable EV charging hardware, ensuring flexible and future-proof solutions for everyone.

The two have already embarked on several collaborative projects, including the newly opened community in Brookfields House in Newcastle-under-Lyme in the form of shared parking areas. The roll out will continue with installations in Exeter and Knaresborough in 2025.

The SecuriCharge hardware, manufactured in the UK and supplied by Rolec, means that Adlington homeowners will be provided with an industry leading charging experience, well-adapted to the communal home charging environment. Alongside scheduled charging, the free user-friendly app and Wi-Fi connectivity, the charging network will also support solar integration for energy conscious users. Additionally, its robust and efficient design makes it a perfect space saving solution in shared parking environments, while offering a reliable source for overnight vehicle charging for residents.

The units are also abundant with features to support the specific needs of a communal charging scenario. Including dynamic load balancing and management for multiple charge points, ease of installation and maintenance and built-in MID-approved metering (which many chargepoints lack), allowing for direct and accurate reporting of energy usage. Furthermore, Rolec’s SecuriCharge units are compliant with the PAS 1899 accessible charging standard, making them an ideal solution for sites where accessibility is essential, such as when providing charging for a diverse range of residents.

Speaking on the partnership, James Jarvis, Senior Business Development Manager at Rolec, said:

“We look forward to working closely with Adlington Retirement Living to enhance their communities with efficient and accessible EV charging solutions, supporting their mission to build sustainable communities across the UK.

Before implementing their new EV infrastructure, I assisted Adlington in identifying and addressing several key factors, including dynamic load balancing and management – which take into consideration the building’s electrical supply and demand, dynamically adjusting the chargepoints as needed to optimise performance and efficiency. Through discussions with their team, it became clear that Rolec’s hardware and over three decades of industry experience positioned us as the ideal partner for these projects.

Our nationwide network of EV chargepoint installation partners also enables us to install and manage multiple sites simultaneously across the UK, ensuring a smooth and efficient rollout for Adlington Retirement Living. We will showcase our hardware, software, and comprehensive support capabilities for their upcoming developments.”

Chris Holden, Buying Manager at Adlington Retirement Living, added:

“It’s great to launch our partnership with Rolec at our newest retirement community in Newcastle-under-Lyme! We look forward to working with James Jarvis and the wider team at Rolec as our business continues to expand across the country."
