Strategic Partnership
In 2023, Rolec and Wattif EV announced their strategic partnership with an ambitious plan to provide fully funded EV chargers to businesses nationwide. By combining Rolec’s comprehensive range of chargepoint hardware with Wattif’s sophisticated software and variety of funding opportunities, the partnership offers a fully turnkey solution to customers. In the months following the announcement of their joint aims, Rolec and Wattif have completed several high-profile installations for clients such as The Motorist, Waveney River Centre, and Mullingar Golf Club, with no plans of slowing down.
EV Charging Comes to Holiday Parks Along the Devon Coast
The latest projects on the docket for the pair has taken them to West Dorset, where they have implemented an extensive number of installs and upgrades, to bring electric vehicle charging infrastructure to holiday parks across the Devon coastline. Bringing convenient and accessible EV infrastructure right to the doorstep of holiday goers’ homes-away-from-home. Allowing them to enjoy their vacation with the security of knowing they have easy access to charging.
Growing Demand for EV Charging in the Leisure Industry
Which is why it’s no surprise that the leisure industry has widely adopted guest and visitor EV charging as part of planned site refurbishments this off-season. By making chargepoints available to both guests and open to the local network of sustainable drivers, with pay-to-charge facilities, holiday parks can easily increase revenue.
Darren North, National Sales Manager, from Rolec, said:
‘Rolec’s strategic partnership with funding provider Wattif makes adding EV charging to your site plans easier than ever. Together, we offer a variety of funding solutions, including fully funded, part-funded, and subscription options for chargepoint purchase, installation, management, and software. Meaning your business can install the latest electric vehicle infrastructure without capital expenditure or investment risk.
It’s an ideal solution for destinations where access to EV charging is essential. Caravan parks, holiday parks, theme parks, hotels, resorts, shopping centres, sports stadiums, and more should prioritise offering public charging.
Whichever model, all operating costs are included and Wattif will take on the operation and maintenance of your chargepoints. So, you can spend less time looking at EV chargepoint management and more time with guests.’
West Dorset Leisure Holiday Estates
Golden Cap Holiday Park
Installed a combination of Rolec AutoCharge and SecuriCharge units to provide both freestanding and wall-mounted EV charging infrastructure. Installed by the team at ICEE, Wattif provided a turnkey solution to the park, including the cost of surveying, site civils, installation, testing and connection.
Sandyholme Holiday Park
As part of planned site upgrades, electric vehicle charging capacity was increased to provide over 30 Rolec EV 22kW dual chargepoints, all accessible via the Wattif network.
Highlands End Holiday Park
Another site upgrade not only provided Highlands End with an additional 3 new chargers, but also upgraded existing charging hardware from 11kW to 22kW, doubling the speed of the available network. Across the wider site, their chargepoint network also featured two 22kW AutoCharge units and two wall-mounted units; a WallPod and a SecuriCharge.
Wattif’s Funding and Rolecs’ Product Range
Fully funded options offered by Wattif make the perfect solution for businesses who want to provide public EV charging infrastructure but require a Zero CapEx solution. Allowing businesses to benefit from implementing the latest electric vehicle infrastructure without capital expenditure or investment risk and immediately start benefiting from attracting new customers and the additional revenue that comes with offering pay-to-charge solutions to EV drivers.
Additionally, Rolec’s expansive range of fully compliant AC and DC hardware makes them the preferred hardware solution for destinations where accessibility is essential. Caravan parks, holiday parks, resorts, hotels, motels, B&Bs, campgrounds, lodges, glamping sites, theme parks, shopping centres, sports stadiums, and more should prioritise meeting accessibility regulations to provide the best service to their diverse customer base.
Steve Rees, Managing Director Wattif EV UK & Ireland, added:
‘Rolec’s smart EV charging hardware, combined with Wattif's turnkey offering and funding options, provides the perfect solution for installing and operating EV charging in car parks and across fleets. Improvements to charging infrastructure and access to charge points are key to increasing EV adoption, eliminating range anxiety, and meeting 2030 legislative targets.
Wattif UK is keen to address the electric vehicle charging demands across all sectors. Partnering with Rolec and their customers, I know we have a very convincing proposition on smart charging networks. This partnership for Wattif provides Rolec's clients with turnkey funding and operation/service models to help them on their route to net zero and transition to electric vehicle adoption.’
